My Fulbright Timeline
2014
November 5: Fulbright Application due for the 2015-16 school year. It's due on the same date every year. Start it early, as the required essays are LONG and you'll need letters of recommendation.
2015
April 17: Fulbright notification. It’s about time! This felt terribly late as I was trying to figure out so many life plans and my school wanted to know what was happening and whether they needed to hire someone.
August 11-14: Fulbright Orientation in Washington, DC. I also got to see my friends Christa and Jason while I was there.
November: Visa application submitted and confirmed, medical clearance granted.
November 30: Flights to NZ booked! It’s starting to feel real.
2016
January 15: Last day of work in Minneapolis.
January 22: Depart for New Zealand.
February 4-5: Fulbright Orientation in Wellington for all Fulbright grantees in New Zealand.
February 9: Powhiri for all Fulbright Teachers
February 10: Visited my first school
March 14-21: Week in Auckland visiting schools there and checking out Polyfest
April 22: Jen joins me in Wellington and we head to Milford Sound. Schools around here are on holiday.
May 31: Final presentation
June 30: My Fulbright experience officially ends.
July 8: I head home!
